Case Study: Dessert Mobile App

Overview
Product: This Dessert Mobile App offers a delightful variety of treats across multiple categories, including donuts, cupcakes, cakes, and drinks, all available at your fingertips for easy ordering and delivery.
Guide: Personal Project
Duration: 7 working days
My Role: UX Design, UI Design
Responsibilities: Creating user assumptions, a proto persona based on these assumptions, a user flow, business goals analysis, paper and digital wireframes, and low and high-fidelity prototypes.
User Assumptions
- Convenience: Users prefer to browse and order desserts from the comfort of their own homes or while on the go, saving them time and effort compared to visiting a physical store.
- Convenient Reordering: For users who have favorite desserts they regularly purchase, the app can offer the “favorite” feature for easy reordering, saving them time and hassle.
- Limited Product Information: Users want detailed information about desserts, including ingredients, allergens, portion sizes, and pricing. Lack of comprehensive product details could lead to uncertainty or hesitation in making a purchase.
- Expectation For Reviews: Users want access to reviews and ratings to make informed decisions when ordering desserts.
Proto Persona

User Flow
I have created a user flow using FigJam that illustrates how users will interact with the app. You can check the user flow here.

Alignment with Business Goals
- Increased Sales: With the ability to reach more customers, the store can potentially increase its sales volume. The convenience of online ordering can encourage more frequent purchases from existing customers and attract new customers who may not have visited the physical store otherwise.
- Insightful Analytics: The app can provide valuable data and insights into customer behavior, preferences, and purchasing patterns. This data can be used to optimize marketing strategies, inventory management, and product offerings to better meet customer demand and increase sales.
Brand Loyalty and Engagement: A well-designed app can enhance the store’s brand image and foster customer loyalty. Exclusive offers and promotions create opportunities for increased customer engagement and satisfaction.
- Dynamic Product Advertising: With the app, the store can effectively promote new products to its customers or launch promotional campaigns in response to market demand.
Compared to food delivery aggregator apps, the store gains several advantages from having its own dedicated app.
Brand Control: With a dedicated app, the store has full control over its branding, including the design and user experience. This reinforces brand recognition and loyalty among customers.
Customer Data Ownership: When using a dedicated app, the store owns and controls the customer data collected through the app. This data is invaluable for understanding customer behavior, preferences, and purchasing patterns, which can be used to personalize marketing efforts, improve product offerings, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Customized Features and Functionality: A dedicated app allows the store to tailor the features and functionality to its specific needs and preferences.
Reduced Dependency on Third-Party Platforms: By having its own app, the store reduces its dependency on third-party delivery platforms, which often charge commissions and fees for each transaction.
Long-Term Value Creation: Investing in a dedicated app represents a long-term investment in the future growth and success of the business. As the app gains traction and attracts more users over time, it becomes a valuable asset that generates ongoing revenue and strengthens the store’s competitive position in the market.
Data Security and Privacy: By managing its own app, the store can implement robust security measures to protect customer data and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
Paper Wireframes
I took the time to draft iterations of each screen on paper, then I used the ideas I liked the most and created the final version of my paper wireframes.

Digital Wireframes
I created the digital wireframes using Figma and then using the completed set of my digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. You can find the wireframes and the low-fidelity prototype here.

High-fidelity screens
Lastly, I created the mockup screens and the high-fidelity prototype. You can find the mockup and the high-fidelity prototype here.
In this project, I significantly enhanced my proficiency in Figma, while using Auto-Layout and constraints to ensure responsiveness and grids to maintain consistency in layout structure.
